Making Disciples of the Youth Nation

Text Box: Faith Baptist Church

We will Establish the Christian faith in the hearts, minds, and lives of our students. 1/3 of all teenagers will abandon their Christian Faith upon High School graduation. That is unacceptable. Something must change. How do you change the world? One person at a time. We are setting out to create disciples who will be fully committed to following Christ and developing into mature Young Adults who hold to the abundant Life in Christ both today and tomorrow.

We will Evangelize the local community by our actions and our words. According to the Barna Research Group, 77% of all Christians commit their lives to Christ by the age of 21. That means that our timeframe for our most effective evangelism is very short. We must raise up a generation of youth who will see it as their personal responsibility to reach their friends for Christ today. If any student of Duncanville High School graduates without hearing the gospel from the lips of one of our disciples, then we have failed the commandment of Christ to reach all nations beginning here at home.

We will Equip today’s teenager to live in a deep, committed relationship with their Savior. Unlike previous American generations, many of today’s youth are not raised in Christian homes and may not even have the Bible in their home. After solving this obvious problem, we will seek to dive further by instructing them in how to appropriately Study God’s Word and obey the commandments therein. Ultimately, this generation must love the Lord their God with all their heart and mind and soul and body.

We will Empower the youth to become leaders in the church. There are many different capacities in which teenagers can serve and develop their gifts in the church. And if we are to create change within this youth culture, it will be on the backs of student leaders. These are not the leaders of the future; they are whom we as the church are depending on to revitalize the Christian faith in America today.

We will encourage the teenagers to hold each other accountable on their individual journeys with Christ. God did not intend for the Christian Road to be walked alone, and it is essential that each teenager is held accountable so as not to fall into sin if they are to be effective missionaries at their respective schools.
